Our Wookie

James' teacher calls him her "Wookie" (ala Chewbacca from Star Wars) because of all the noises he makes as he plays or just walking around...I think she's pretty on target w/ the nickname. I caught him making some of the noises on our way home from school :-)

14 months

Lil' Stinker has made it nearly impossible to get a picture of him and the label or him and Teddy easily -- so Teddy comparisons may have to wait a few more months until he will willingly hold the bear instead of throwing him to the side in a toddler hyper-fit of "must run as much as possible before you put me to bed."
He is gonna be trouble :-) Below :: trying to climb up the slide from The Motes Family

A rare moment of actually sitting on the couch -- smile would be better w/o that darn binkie, but it keeps him from sticking his whole fist in his mouth and making himself puke (GROSS)!

Things accomplished/done up to 14.5 months::

  • transitioning to toddlers
  • adding words :: Dana, Danielle, Dad, Dawwwwgg, Water, Yah (with appropriately, one very emphatic head nod), No (a little closer to 14.5 months) and "E-I-Yo" (what he calls any book, but also his favorite book and nursery rhyme), Socks
  • adding signs :: "more" is now done w/ vigor; "all done" is usually accompanied by James brushing all left over food on his tray on to the ground -- he does not appreciate left overs when he is done; and "milk, milk, MILK" is used to get milk or water and he needs it right now every time
  • 1st "raging" ear infection :-( He barely ran a fever, so no real clues, poor Bug
  • 1st wagon ride and park visit
  • he's become a very avid dancer -- has the "bounce" "spin" and "hike" moves down pat and working on the side-to-side sway

Happy Feet

James LOVES to dance! He will stop whatever he's doing and shake what his momma gave him if he hears music -- even if just in a commercial :-) His best moves: "happy feet" "spin" and the football "hike" where the leg gets picked up really high and put back down in place.

Peek A Boo Around the Island

James and I played a game of peek-a-boo around the island :-) He will now put his hands over his face (not always covering his eyes) to play peek-a-book with us, too. That means he's learned almost learned the sign for "tiger" too to add to his repertoire of "more" "all done" and "milk milk milk!!!"

Park and Mother's Day

James was very smiley this day -- must have had himself a good (4 hour) nap!
His first trip to a) the park in b) his new wagon from Christmas! He seemed to much prefer the wagon ride over the swing :-)
Checking out the slide and trouble he can find while Daddy and Easton look on
James was NOT a big fan of the swing -- lasted about a minute and a half -- just long enough for me to get a video and a couple pics -- until he started screaming
We were both SOOOOO tired! This was after his Nebulizer treatment -- still doing 2 treatments/day (one am and one pm), which is very tedious but he's off the Singulair for now -- nice to have him off one of the meds at least!
Daddy left us for the night and James was in a really good mood -- I kept trying to get him to give me a kiss on the cheek (they are nice and slobbery but full of love) MWAH!
He is still infatuated with people's mouths -- maybe a Dentist in the making?
James made me this beautiful flower at school for me for Mother's Day -- finally, one I can't kill with my black thumb!!!
Jimmy picked me up some beautiful flowers and has promised we can get a cleaning crew in here one day this summer (once I get rid of the clutter) so I can get a good start. James got me a new charm for my bracelet -- a smiley face, just like he's always smiling :-)
James is so silly -- riding his scooter backwards

Transitioning to the Toddler Room

One of James' first art pieces from his new, Toddler classroom! It's his first "self portrait." He started transitioning 2 weeks ago and officially moved up to the new room last Friday, April 30. Usually it's a slow transition process, but he was so darn excited to be playing with his old friends he just stayed all day :-) They moved him up a bit earlier then usual but he was more than ready and being a little stinker by pounding on the babies cribs when they were sleeping!
He took Daddy's Blackhawks hat and did some laps around the kitchen to celebrate a win!
He loves to make the toy make noise by making baskets. And he did like to hit the baseball, but Easton just ruined that by chewing on the bat so we had to recycle it :-( Boo, poor puppy must be bored (although I was just throwing his squeaky toy about 20 seconds before he started on the bat).

Running Errands

Above :: Jimmy asked James to get him his shoes -- and sure enough, HE DID! So funny! It was also James' first try at wearing his big boy tennis shoes -- he screamed for 10 minutes when we first put them on him, so we took them off and then he was begging for us to put them back on (works for me)!
Below :: first ride in his new convertible car seat! Lil' man is still under 20 lbs so he has to be rear-facing and I miss just carrying him in to let him nap if he falls asleep in the car, but I think he likes the new seat better.
We dragged him to so many places, he conked out between places :-)
First ride in a shopping cart -- those things are sooo dirty, glad we had the cover :-)
